About Tots'n'Tales LAB

Where stories are brought to life!!

In a secret underground laboratory (also known as the kitchen table), two story-obsessed moms, Stephanie and Tamara, put on their metaphorical lab coats, powered up their imaginations, and began tinkering with something truly electrifying!! These weren't just any moms- these were trained performers, seasoned actors from stage to screen, with a shared love for storytelling and a wild dream: to create a living, breathing storytelling experience for kids that would leap off the page and into real life!!

After lots of experimenting, cackling, and one too many snack breaks, the gals discovered their secret formula!! Not just a company, Tots'n'Tales LAB was a creature of invention, a monster of joy, stitched together with the best bits of theatre, imagination, and childlike wonder.

Now, Tots'n'Tales LAB crafts live, interactive shows that engage tots and young audiences into magical worlds full of adventure, music, and a whole lot of fun, while promoting child development and growth!! Every performance is a creation, blasted to life with the energy of the room, and the spark of two moms who truly understand the power of play. At Tots'n'Tales LAB, we don't just tell stories- we build them!!

And we invite every child to join us in the lab!!

Stephanie

Stephanie

Stephanie is a Toronto-based actor, singer, musician, writer, director, producer and teacher. She was born in beautiful Sussex, New Brunswick, and will always be an East Coaster at heart. It was during her time at Sussex Regional High School that she was bitten by the insatiable theatre bug, in her very first role: Lily St. Regis in Annie.

After high school, she completed her theatre degree at Dalhousie University where she received the Andrew and David Stitt Memorial Award for promise and excellence.

Upon graduation, she again worked under the very talented Pamela Halstead's direction at Ship's Company Theatre in Parrsboro, Nova Scotia, where she premiered the part of Melissa Abbot in Ivor Johnson's Neighbours. She then headed home to New Brunswick to join the Saint John Theatre Company, gaining further experience with brilliant directors like Graham Percy and Stephen Tobias. She also toured for two seasons with Theatre New Brunswick's Young Company, performing and teaching workshops across the province.

Following her second tour, Stephanie moved to Toronto, where she has studied with incredible voice/acting coaches at The Pro Actor's Lab and Second City. She has performed in theatres all across Canada with companies like, Theatre New Brunswick, Saint John Theatre Company, Stirling Festival Theatre, Upper Canada Playhouse and Cow Patti Theatre Company. She has also appeared with several companies in the city, including Thought for Food Productions, Mysteriously Yours and Guild Festival Theatre.

Stephanie can be seen in several commercials and TV shows, including: Close Encounters, Paranormal Witness, Paranormal Survivor, Sin City ER.

When not appearing on screen or stage, Stephanie spends her time with her beautiful sons (her inspirations for everything), Beau and Levi and her incredible husband Tom. She is currently finishing up her first children's book and working diligently on her music.

Tamara Freeman

Tamara Freeman

Tamara Freeman is a Latine-Canadian actor, voice over artist, director, producer, and emerging playwright based in Hamilton, Ontario. Aside from her love of exclamation marks, she is also a proud alumni of the Acting for Film and Television program at Humber College, and has been incredibly blessed to work as a theatre professional for close to 10 years from Toronto all the way to Ottawa. Select stage credits include A Midsummer Night's Dream & Twelfth Night (A Company of Fools), A Midsummer Night's Dream (Shakespeare In Action), and Hamlet(s) (Skipping Stones Theatre).

When Tamara is not on stage, she is in a recording booth having the absolute time of her life!! You may have caught Tamara's voice as leads for both Wild Manes as Cocoa and as Bubble for Bubble's Hotel, as well as hearing her voice in Hailey and the Hero Hearts all for Epic Story Media. You can also catch her voice as different Barbies for Mattel and as the original voice for Beatriz in Elinor Wonders Why (PBS), just to name a few shows!!

Her absolute life and joy though, is her little boy who is constantly inspiring her to dream bigger and be sillier!! As a mum and a performer, Tamara understands just how important it is to spark wonder early and gently cultivate it. She strives to help grow the next generation of theatre lovers and creators, nurturing young imaginations with every story she tells.
